It also opens doors to new economic opportunities for all Albertans, by letting us compete globally from right here at home.

There has been a lot of interest and questions from the community at large since Axia introduced its Internet Gateway Service. Some of the questions I’ve received express a genuine curiosity about our model, others contain missing information that leads to more confusion about our model, Axia and the SuperNet in general.
In hopes of providing clear and precise information to all interested parties, the following Q&A are my responses to the most common questions I’ve had come my way.
Last Friday, an article was posted on the Alberta Diary blog (authored by David Climenhaga) questioning the value and true cost of Alberta’s SuperNet. Axia would like to answer some of the questions raised.
David has certainly made a valid point that not all rural Albertans have access to high-speed broadband today, which was the vision when Alberta’s SuperNet was built. We are a lot closer to that vision today than we were before the SuperNet was built, when only 7 communities in Alberta had access to high speed broadband. Today, 429 communities in Alberta have access through 83 Service Providers.
